What is Cosalert?
Cosalert uses a metric scoring system that evaluates allergenicity of cosmetic products based on product ingredients and their allergenic potency. Scores range from zero to 1000, zero designating the absence of currently known allergens and 1000 designating maximal theoretical score where every ingredient is an allergen with highest potency.
Why Cosalert?
Studies show that about 50% of consumers buy products with a “hypoallergenic” claim; but what does “hypoallergenic” really mean? Most products don’t tell you what ingredients in their product may be more likely to cause an issue.
